Forgiveness Therapy

Forgiveness Therapy
Can you forgive?
Must I forgive?
How do the steps of confronting, confessing and forgiving work together?
Would you like to receive forgiveness from someone you know you have hurt?
Do I need to receive forgiveness?
What are the benefits for me when I forgive?
How do I forgive?
Is forgiving just?

The two most important interpersonal themes in life are love and forgiveness between human beings. Jesus stressed that even though we may have been hurt, misused, or wronged, we all are in need of forgiveness.

Forgiving is counter to our expectations. Taking revenge, taking offense, and holding on to our hurt feels much more natural, even right. But this comes with the high price of a reduced quality of life, happiness, as well as mental and even physical health.

But the benefits of extending and receiving forgiveness are many: peace of mind, improved sleep, improved relationships, deeper happiness, a deep sense of freedom, and a real sense that a burden is lifted!

Forgiveness therapy includes the following steps:

  1. Gain AWARENESS
  2. Gain ADMITTANCE
  3. Gain ACCEPTANCE of having been abused
  4. IDENTIFY resentments
  5. RESOLVE to free yourself from the anger and resentments by not owning their responsibility
  6. EXPRESS and COMMUNICATE your new-found freedom
